Kimber, with a little help from their friends, announced last week that the company is sending 220 guns to help fight the Russians.
The guns include 200 R7 Mako series 9mm pistols (along with 800 spare magazines) and 20 assorted tactical bolt-action rifles in .308.
Leupold equipped the rifles with Mark 4 LR/T 3.5-10×40mm scopes, mounts, and rings while Mission First Tactical provided holsters for the Makos, cases for the rifles, and a bonus 4,300 AR mags for other platforms the Ukrainians have gotten from elsewhere.
The takeaway from social media is that Kimber is sending the guns so they can claim the Mako and their rifles are “combat-tested.”
However, when you consider the Ukrainians are still listed as using the M1895 Nagant and the PM Makarov to help fend off the Russian invasion, the Makos are a clear upgrade.
