Walther Adds a Female-Centered Version of the PDP

According to about every firearms industry survey and trade group, female gun ownership is on the rise as the number of women hunters, target shooters, and gun owners have skyrocketed in recent years.

Lots of gunmakers have tried to cash in on this, selling cringe-worthy hot pink and Tiffany blue-flavored guns, along with the whole Muddy Girl camo phase. Then let us not forget carved out models of guns made “just for the little lady” like the S&W Ladysmith and the downright horrible Taurus Curve, which allowed the gun counter staff to white knight all over the place.

Well, Walther just announced a fresh new take on that, with a redesigned “F” model of the red-dot-ready PDP series 9mm pistol. While it isn’t Tiffany, Muddy Girl, or pink, it does have a slimmer grip, shorter length to make it from said grip to the trigger, and a reduction in slide force.

The reengineered ergonomics came after feedback from a group of pro-shooters, including Jessica Hook, Gabby Franco, and Tatiana Whitlock. Of course, Walther could have just sold it like this, to begin with, and made everyone happy. Beretta does the same thing on the M9/92 series, but just calls it a Vertec grip, and it’s super popular.

Eh, marketing.
