Launched almost a decade ago, the MCX series from Sig Sauer was originally developed for Special Operations use. Since then, it evolved into two different paths, one military, which saw adoption this year by the Army and SOCOM as the XM5 and Rattler, and the other a consumer avenue exemplified by the MCX Virtus and Canebrake lines.
Now, in its third generation, the new MCX Spear LT is lighter (about 7.5 ish pounds in its heaviest variant), accepts standard AR-15 trigger packs, is Coyote FDE only (gone is that weird gray finish), and is offered in 7.62×39 as well as the staple .300 BLK and 5.56 formats. Like the Virtus, it will be available in both carbine and pistol formats as well as SBRs for those looking to go NFA.
A lot of influencers got a sneak peek at the new MCX line including TFB, Guns.com, the Military Arms Channel, and Garand Thumb, with the latter coughing up the most informative and entertaining video.
As far as pricing? Expect it close to $3K.
