Savage Arms Impulse Mountain Hunter

Savage delivered probably the first practical American-made straight-pull bolt action rifle to the market two years ago and has followed it up with a slew of variants including Big Game, Hog Hunter, and Predator models.

The newest is an ultralight series of mountain guns, all under 7.5 pounds.

Available in nine calibers from .270 to .300 WSM including some popular new cartridges like 28 Nosler, 6.5 CM, and 6.5 PRC, the new Impulse Mountain Hunter sheds ounces through the use of PROOF’s carbon-wrapped barrels and innovative aluminum receivers.

The price to keep the weight down is high, however, hitting the $2,500 mark.
