The First State is a governor’s signature away from joining the same club as California, New Jersey, and New York by enacting a statewide ban on “assault weapons” and “large-capacity magazines.”
In all, just seven states have such bans, and the way Delaware is looking to do it is different. While most ban semi-auto rifles with a detachable magazine and two cosmetic features like a pistol grip, folding/telescoping stock, bayonet lug, threaded barrel, or grenade launcher (srsly), the Delaware ban sets a lower bar of just one feature.
Also, while most states with magazine limits set it at 10, Delaware’s will be 17, which allows most pistol users to keep their mags but impacts about every AR/AK owner.
